Location
Korokoro is a small suburb of Lower Hutt, on the western hills overlooking Wellington harbour. It is away from the hustle bustle of the city, but still close to all amenities. There are beautiful nature reserves and forests that back onto Belmont Regional Park, only a few minutes away from where we were staying. This house sit was only for a few days so we didn’t get to do much, but I still wanted to write a blog about the pets.
Pets/House
During this brief house sit we had the pleasure of caring for two adorable miniature dachshunds named Clooney and Noodle. They both loved human affection and everytime we sat down on the couch they would eagerly hop onto our laps for cuddles. Due to their smaller size, they had special steps up to the couch and bed so they could easily climb up, which we thought was rather cute. They have very peaceful and loving natures, however when it came to walk time, Noodle would get so excited jumping up and down barking, it was often hard to get the lead on him. It’s astonishing how swiftly their tiny legs could carry them, leaving us trying to keep up. At night they slept in a crate in the bedroom, never making a peep. In the morning we would let them out and they would run up onto the bed for cuddles. They gave us lots of good morning kisses and Noodle liked to crawl under the duvet to sleep. Although we were only with them for a few days, we formed a close attachment to their sweet natures and will miss them a lot.
The house was perched high on the hill and had incredible views over Somes Island. They had a spa outside on the courtyard, which had equally stunning views and each day we would watch the ferry go through the cook straight. We would also see planes flying out of Wellington Airport. It was truly a stunning location.
